Zorger Family History

Twin Engines and Dualing Pistols

Fredrick Zorger (originally Zorchger) of Liepzig Germany, was born in 1734 and migrated to Pennsylvania in the 1800's. It was during the War of 1812 that Fredrick rose to historical fame. With the boom of rifle making on the rise, and his expertise as a blacksmith and goldsmith, he moved his family to York and there his gunsmith craftsmanship shaped the Zorger family tree. Today, two F. Zorger pistols remain on display in the Winterthrup Museum. Upon his death in 1815, Fredrick Zorger parceled out his wealth equally among his 12 children. The family trait of sharing the business responsibilities and rewards continues with the owner of Skull Shoals Park.

David Zorger started his aviation career in 1979 as a mechanic and pilot. In 1999 he started Aircraft Specialists and grew the family business into one of the largest Aircraft Specialists in Georgia. From CFO to Parts Manager, the Zorger family team up to make their businesses run top notch.

While on a hunting expedition in Wilkes County, he saw the beauty of nature at Skull Shoals and turned his business enterprising expertise into the Skull Shoals Park and Campground.  David invests more than his hard earned money into this park, you'll often see him on a backhoe pushing mounds of dirt to make the great outdoors even greater at Skull Shoals Park.
